Education
The Adult Education Program is a community-based educational
program which helps Hope Center's clients move toward
self-development and independence through a curriculum designed to meet the
needs of the individual. The Adult Day Training (ADT) programmers develop
an Individual Implementation Plan (IIP) with input from the client, family, staff
and Support Coordinator. The IIP provides the opportunity for objectives/goals
to be agreed upon for the acquisition of skills by the client. Skills
targeted include: social, communication, hygiene, money, safety, vocational and
community and world awareness. Training programs are developed for each
acquisition skill. The ADT programmer monitors the client's progress and
makes modifications based on this information.
Within the three classrooms are seven trainers who provide training, supervision and promote survival education skills to our clients. Hope Center also has a Geriatric class, which provides services to our elderly and physically impaired clients and also provides training in leisure skills. Through the Miami Dade County Public School system, Hope Center is able to provide computer, nutrition and exercise classes five days a week.
